I Blame Gnepig and Delbert. Damn You!!!
Saw this 10/22RPFTF sitting at our local MC Sports, on sale for $259. Now ya gotta understand, I've been playing Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, as has my son and the itch to have a tactical rifle has been gnawing at me. When I saw this, not only did I want it, I knew my son would go bananas! I was right.
Added a TruGlo red dot sight to it, keeping in sync with the Modern Warfare theme. So damn you Gnepig for getting me looking at AR type rifles, and damn you Delbert for getting me looking at 10/22's I discovered after I mounted the red dot sight that the gun also comes with a scope mount so that I could mount the scope farther aft, but I will try it like it is for a while and see how I like it. Let's see... Now I need a laser/headlight, bi-pod, grenade launcher, and bottle opener attachment. Ahhhh, accessorizing. Ken Firearms Price Guide...For What It's Worth. Join Us On Facebook! RE: I Blame Gnepig and Delbert. Damn You!!!
I'm sorry Alleydude. I got you down a path where there's no turning back with 10/22's. LOL. That's one cool looking rifle, and I know there's more to your thinking about what else to add onto it. You wouldn't believe all the vendors who sell accessorizing things for the little Ruger. Now, what you need is to go to WalMart and get one of the lazer sights(CenterPoint) to mount on that beast. It has a simple on/off switch AND a wired remote pressure switch to put where you need. I have one on a Hi-Standard pistol, that works great. It will only shine for around 10 yds in the daytime shade, BUT at night it'll shine to 100 yds easily(can't see that far, but it's cool). It's also adjustable to give you that pinpoint accuracy. You NEED IT for a rifle like that.

It's fun like owning a motorcycle, custom guns are cool also, so much stuff you can do with those.
I like it, makes me want one too... Have you gotten to fire it yet? Quote: "Let's see... Now I need a laser/headlight, bi-pod, grenade launcher, and bottle opener attachment. Ahhhh, accessorizing." Don't forget the cigarette lighter and chrome cup holder... LOL |

Hey Alleydude. I was looking as best as possible at pictures, and I was thinking(now I have a headache). But, it looks like the rear butt attachment is adjustable. If that's the case, it would be cool to put on some blackened bolts and wing nuts to do adjustments out in the field when needed or to immediately go from a butt stock rifle and remove it and have a 2-handed pistol type weapon(without butt stock). Ya also need a simple gun sling with a barrel collar to attach the front of sling swivel to barrel and NOT have to drill into the forend of stock. Here's another idea. Get some one piece see-thru scope mounts made for the 10/22 to mount on the receiver to give ya ability to use the iron sights. I understand the trigger pulls on the new rifles are very gritty and heavy. There's lots of trigger vendors out there that have very good triggers to help with this, OR you can do your own trigger work. If problems, I'm also a member of (Rimfire Central.com) they have lots of capable experts there for help and insight.

RE: I Blame Gnepig and Delbert. Damn You!!!
I've been looking at all the cool stuff I could get, and I am definately set on getting a by-pod for it.
Anyone done any business with these guys? Their prices are great! http://combatoptical.com/ Been considering the following: 1) Foregrip 2) Flashlight 3) Laser Sight And of course, a sling. Gnepig... no, haven't fired it yet. Been too busy but hopefully in the next couple days we'll take it to our local indoor range and sight it in at 25 yards. AH MAN!!! Never ordered from that company, BUT they have all the right stuff you need, and their prices are very good for what you get. Certainly not you WalMart everyday items. I'm not into tactical weaponry, but you now make me want one of those Rugers.

RE: I Blame Gnepig and Delbert. Damn You!!!
Took the Ruger to the indoor range today. The range I go to doesn't have facilities for sand bags or stands, so everything is shot while standing. The maximum range is 25 yards. I was able to manage about 5 inch groups with the red dot sight. The sight I got was a cheaper on ($29.00 on sale) and the dot is a bit big compared to the more expensive ones.
Still, it was a lot of fun, and between the wife and I we put about 250 rounds through it without a hitch. It was a lot of fun! We also shot our Henrys, which was great as well. Good day! Ken Firearms Price Guide...For What It's Worth. Join Us On Facebook! Check Out Our Blog! |

Sounds like lots of fun. Glad that little beast functioned well for you. Wished I had some indoor ranges close to me to kill some paper Zombies.

RE: I Blame Gnepig and Delbert. Damn You!!!
Mmm, I love the smell of dead paper zombies in the morning...
Good to read that you and the Missus had a good time. That Ruger is a fun shooter, have you found a good 30 round clip for that yet? One of those will double your pleasure for sure. How did the Ruger stack up to the Henry (handling/ grouping/ fun factor)? Which did you both like the best/ want to shoot? It is to freakin cold here now, we are goin to the indoor range soon... |
