Refinishing custom 10/22 stock

Well, here it is now 2010, so I decided to do something for myself, and start the new year out right and disassemble my custom Ruger 10/22 and refinish the stock. The old finish on it was tru-oil from about 10 yrs ago and it was rough and didn't go on well, but I contribute it to the stock being a laminate wood, which because of the glues used(glue penetration through the thin strips of woods), didn't let the tru-oil penetrate or go on correctly. So, today I said "why not" and spent the last 10 hrs sanding down the old finish and paid special attention(which I didn't do the first time) in sanding in all the nooks and crannies better, and taking off the sharp edges where the thumb goes in the stock(thumb hole stock) and around the cheek comb area. Put on the 1st coat of clear gloss, then I'll wait a couple hours, which I will then resand with automotive "wet/dry 400 fine grit and repeat process until I get the desired effect I want, then do a 600 final sanding and polish. Then it'll all go back together and I'll post a couple pics and let you all ogle at a fine little rifle.

Sounds cool. Pictures are a must though. Can't have a refinish thread without pictures. Can't have laminate stock discussions without pictures. Can't talk about 10/22's without pictures.
