70th Anniversary Red Ryder

70th Anniversary Red Ryder
Was at a hardware store the other day, and I noticed a 70th Anniversary Red Ryder rifle with commorative medallion in stock. Does anybody think these things will have the potential to increase in cost down the road for a collector? No, I don't collect BB guns, but if this has the potential, it might be a good way to start. Didn't look close enough, if it was limited edition model serial number.Doh I'll need to look more closely at it. Did Daisy make any other anniversary models in the Red Ryder models that a person might want for a collection if found?

As a matter of fact we bought one at WalMart, on sale for $25.00. No, I don't think they will have any collectors value in our lifetime, but it's kind'a neet. Not numbered, heck, they probably made millions of these things but yesterday when I went back to Wallyworld they were all gone. There's probably gonna be a lot of lucky kids this Christmas, getting these Red Riders.

As for other collectors editions, I know Daisy did a Daisy 100th Anniversary Edition, but beyond that I don't know.

As for the Red Rider 70th, I was gonna take some better pictures but the light has been pretty crappy and I take terrible indoor pictures of guns. Here's a group shot with all of our other air guns.

70th Anniversary Red Ryder

I haven't seen one in person yet, but it looks like the only difference is the medallion and a silver band. I will probably own one just because and yep, I'm goin to shoot it. If my kids make money off of it later, cool.
I would say that just about any BB guns that your Dad owned when he was a young man would be worth more money now.

The Red Rider is fun to shoot mostly because it's a challenge to hit things that seem a little too far away, like the dogs that are getting into the garbage at the neighbors house= the look on there faces when you bounce a BB off of there butt. It's like they know they're doing something wrong. It's the best when you sometimes get lucky and bounce a second one off of them and you get to see there backside almost outrun the front... Yeah, the little things...

My son and I stood at the back of the house one day for a good hour, shooting at a soda can that someone had thrown into our front yard. It took us a while to figure out the best elevation to reach the can that was about 35 yards away. After finding out that aimimg the gun about a foot above was right on, that can was dead meat... (The other part that made it all the more of a challenge was shooting it between the passing of cars, but we won't mention that part to loud) :D

The best part about the air rifles is it only cost about 9 bucks for a bottle of 6000 Copperhead BBs or 4 bucks for a tin of 300 pellets from Walmart.

Great lookin batch of air rifles Ken, what is that pistol? It almost looks real.

That's a Smith and Wesson something or other CO2 pistol. It's pretty accurate. I forget how many FPS it shoots, but it'll punch a hole in a pop can easy. It holds about 20 bb's. Fun!

Older and commerative BB guns and prices

I found a couple of sites that were entertaining to look through and kind of informative, like I never knew Crosman ever made an M1 Carbine BB gun! Yeah, guess what I want now...
